Alive at Five with Wild Adriatic and Jocelyn & Chris Arndt Band

Alive at five on July 25th features a double main event: Wild Adriatic and Jocelyn & Chris Arndt Band with special guests Hasty Page! Presented by Dutch Apple Cruises KeyBank and 102.7 WEQX - The REAL Alternative!

Devastatingly powerful vocals and retro-rock guitar, with lyrics that run the gamut between vulnerable to all-out venomous: Jocelyn & Chris Arndt’s music has matured into what can only be described as a throwback to pure, authentic rock. Together with their band, Jocelyn & Chris perform coast to coast, including stops at The Sundance Film Festival, Milwaukee Summerfest, and a main-stage performance at Mountain Jam Music Festival this past summer, all while balancing college at Harvard University. Their recordings feature guests including G. Love, Cory Wong of Vulfpeck, Gov’t Mule’s Danny Louis, and keyboardist/Jade Bird producer David Baron.

In December, Jocelyn & Chris broke into the Billboard Triple A Top 40 with their single “Red Stops Traffic.”

Their team includes publicist Rebecca Shapiro and Andrea Evanson at Shore Fire Media, label services with Bridge Road Entertainment, and radio promotion specialists including Meg MacDonald and Rene Magallon at M:M Music.

Rooted in the rowdy spirit of rock & roll, Wild Adriatic has built an international audience on a combination of groove, grit, and guitar-heavy swagger. With the power trio's newest album, Feel, bandmates Travis Gray, Rich Derbyshire, and Mateo Vosganian update the sound of their influences -- from Seventies rock to Motown to soul -- for a contemporary audience, taking influence from the past but never losing sight of the present. They aren't
revivalists; they're modern men, carrying the torch of melodic, riff-ready, high-energy rock into new territory. Whittled into sharp shape by a touring schedule that's kept them busy for roughly 175 days a year — including two European tours, countless stateside
runs, and appearances at festivals like Bonnaroo — Wild Adriatic's three members recorded Feel in Austin, teaming up with Grammy-nominated producer Frenchie Smith in the process. The goal was to shine a light on the band's strength as a live act, avoiding click tracks, digital instruments, sampled sounds, and other tricks of the recording studio. Instead, Wild Adriatic focused on the same core ingredients — Gray's guitar playing and soulful sweep of a voice; Vosganian's percussive stomp; Derbyshire's in-the-pocket bass — that helped kickstart the band in 2011, back when Wild
Adriatic formed in Upstate New York.

Hasty Page is a group of young, innovative musicians that came together to create an exciting and inspirational new sound for their fans. The original music they write paints a theatrical image through the use of creative lyrics and intricate musicianship.

Tips will be collected in the beer garden to benefit great local organization Capital Roots! Find more information about them at: https://www.capitalroots.org/

ROTR: The Hotelier II Hasty Page + Bruiser & Bicycle

Main Act: The Hotelier
Opening Acts: Hasty Page , Bruiser and Bicycle

The Hotelier is an American rock band from Worcester, Massachusetts, formed in 2009. The band has release an EP and 2 albums. They were originally called The Hotel Year. The release of their 2nd Album in 2014 titled "Home, Like Noplace Is There" ranked at number 1 on the AbsolutePunk staff's top 30 albums of 2014 and number 6 on the users' top 50 albums of 2000-2015. According to Marc Snitzer, writer for the Philadelphia City Paper, The Hotelier was named one of two bands "leading the emo revival" and was ranked number seven on Alternative Press's list of the "12 Biggest Moments of The #EmoRevival in 2014". Leor Galil, writer for the Chicago Reader named it his favorite record of 2014. The Hotelier was also featured (for their second album) in a Boston Globe article highlighting the best music from Boston in 2014 and performed at the 2015 Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, Spain.

Treading the line between indie pop and alternative rock, Hasty Page gathers influences from bands such as The 1975, Nothing But Thieves, and Pearl Jam. They have performed at venues such as The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Jupiter Hall, and Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. The band has also played alongside national touring acts such as Colony House, Arkells, K. Flay, and Ripe; festivals include Celebrate Fairfax Festival (VA) and Pearlpalooza 2017. The musicians have not forgotten their intimate DIY house show performances since attending school at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. They have release 2 independent albums, as their songwriting continues to blossom into a style all of their own.

Bruiser and Bicycle is an Albany-based band, originally formed as a quartet, currently with two members, two guitars and a kick drum. Their influences range from Alex G, Built To Spill, Modest Mouse, Pavement to The Beach Boys and Fugazi. The 21 and 22 year-old musicians recently released their 2nd album "Woods Come Find Me." The band recorded every single part of each song into one microphone, which remained in place in the center of the room throughout a three-day period. Atwood Magazine states "Built on raw DIY energy, Albany duo Bruiser and Bicycle's 'Woods Come Find Me is a delightfully alternative, fantastically fun time."

Gabby Hammond:

Gabby Hammond is a 23 year old musician based in Queensbury NY. Gabby’s take on indie/alternative showcases her powerful sultry voice through personal storytelling. Her honest lyrics are crafted directly from her life experiences. Hammond pulls inspiration from artists such as Billie Eilish, Bishop Briggs, and Tash Sultana. She began her career in 2014 when she enrolled at SUNY Adirondack majoring in Music Performance, although things truly started to kick off for her in the summer of 2018. Hammond has participated in numerous events such as “A Day at the Lake Festival” opening for Hasty Page, along with hosting her own house show in October of 2018. Traveling to areas for shows such as Albany, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, and Glens Falls/Queensbury, she has began to make her mark and continues to do so in Upstate NY. She plans on changing the way people see, and hear music; pushing the narrative that every musician has their own unique style. Gabby proves to inspire others through her sound, by unapologetically being herself.

El Modernist delivers a new take on the world of indie rock. With pulsating hooks and lush melodic waves of psychedelia, the band combines upbeat, catchy garage-rock with a modern alternative hip-hop sound.

(Which is a fancy way of saying they sing and play guitars and sometimes raps happen and it's fun)

Founded in 2018, El Modernist brings you today's s**t.

Tulip Fest After Party featuring Hasty Page & Bendt

Their original music paints a theatrical image through the use of creative lyrics and intricate musicianship.

Doors open @ 7pm
Hasty Page
Hasty Page is a group of innovative musicians from Upstate New York that came together to create an exciting, inspirational new sound for their fans. Their original music paints a theatrical image through the use of creative lyrics and intricate musicianship. With a mix of popular cover tunes and invigorating original music, their live shows are sure to entertain and keep you wanting more. Josh Morris, Zane Agnew and James Paolano formed the group in November, 2015. Since then, they have released an EP, “The Coming of Age,” and a full length album, “Distance.” They have played over 100 shows in and around New York’s Capitol Region, including several at Jupiter Hall, Move Music Festival 2016/2017, and Pearlpalooza 2017. They are influenced by artists such as Kings of Leon, Incubus, The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Nothing But Thieves to name a few, but have formed a musical identity that won’t soon be forgotten.

With lyrical grit, dynamic grooves, and atmospheric, yet driving melodies, Bendt has carved a distinctive sound into the face of modern rock. Formed in 2015, Bendt evolved out of the crucible of the Albany, New York music scene as a passion project between friends. Bandmates Matt Plummer (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Carl Blackwood (lead guitar), John Longo (bass), and Cody Bingham (drums) work to craft a unique presence, one that draws from their individual musicianship and shared love of hard rock, alternative, metal, and funk. As Bendt’s songs leap between soaring riffs and emotive screams, to unusual time signatures and bass-heavy flows, the band captures something that is universal while simultaneously personal and immediate.

Dark Honey with Hasty Page

Two of the Capital Regions's must-hear ALT bands on one hot bill.

Dark Honey
Formerly One Red Martian

Dark Honey is comprised of three brothers and a childhood friend who have been making music together since they were kids. After spending several years in the south the group moved back to their roots in the northeast and began to fine tune their unique sound. Embracing a truly DIY spirit, the band records and releases all their music themselves from their indie studio in Upstate NY.

"Stinging Nettle" is a sugar-shot of tight indie pop-rock. Weaving through its upbeat stomp and catchy melodies singer Jimi Woodul delivers frank and bittersweet lyrics born from experience. An anthem for anyone who's ever fallen hard, it speaks to the simultaneously heartbreaking and hilarious dreams of youth.

Vocals, Guitar / Jimi Woodul
Bass / Ben Woodul
Drums / Joe Woodul
Vocals, Piano, Synth / Dan DeKalb

"There's something in soulful frontman Jimi Woodul's voice that really gives One Red Martian an edge."-Syracuse.com

"All new "Stinging Nettle" is guaranteed to have you singing along to Dark Honey's wittily crafted lyrics". -A&R Factory
